Foreign Guests are WELCOME!
A bustling "Edo period" is being reproduced in the castle town of Sakura.
【 Travel through time to experience Edo period in the SAMURAI Town, Sakura City 】
The bustling castle town of Sakura will have a real palanquin with vendors, entertainers, townsmen and townswomen, samurais rushing to the castle, a Japanese robinhood (nezumi-kozo) and even a princess who escaped from the castle! It is as if you actually traveled back in time to the Edo period in Sakura City.
There will be many areas where both adults and children can enjoy wearing a Samurai armor, transform into a Ninja, and even try out some archeries. An Edo period-style village area will be selling delicious food such as eel and tempura.

■ Castle Town・Sakura City
400 years after the construction of Sakura Castle, the city of Sakura in Chiba Prefecture is a castle town that retains the features of Edo period. Historical buildings such as the Samurai Residences, Sakura Juntendo Memorial, and the former Hotta Mansion remain in the city. The ruins of Sakura Castle have been developed as a castle park known for its autumn leaves and a place where you can take a leisurely walk while enjoying its remains. The National Museum of Japanese History, where you can learn more about the history and folklore of Japan from ancient times to the present day, is also in the same area.
Sakura City, together with the neighboring Narita, Katori, and Choshi cities, is certified as a Japanese Heritage “Edo Tour in Hokuso 4 Cities”. Sakura City is 20minutes by train from Narita International Airport, and it is said to be the "World's Most Closest" castle town to feel the Edo period. Last August, the castle town of Sakura and Jidai Matsuri (Festival of Eras) was selected as a “Chiba Cultural Asset” for the “Sakura Castle Ruins, Castle Town and Edo Era Festival".
